Fearful, Reactive & Aggressive Dogs

Is this your dog?

You can’t walk by other dogs without your dog pulling, lunging, barking or growling…
Or perhaps your dog tries to run away and hide from anything and everything…
…Maybe your dog is even a combination of both!

You’re not alone and help is on the way!

Dogs ask us questions every day – questions like: “Should I worry about that other dog/car/person?” “Can I trust that you know what you’re doing?” or even: “What is that and what is it doing here!?” How, and if, you answer your dog’s questions changes their behavior for the better, or allows the same pattern of unwanted behavior to continue. Once you answer your dog’s questions in a way that makes sense to them, the unwanted behavior stops! Our dogs need to know that they’re safe, that you’re safe, and that you have everything under control.

My approach, The Lisa Rockland Method, will show you how to use nature to your advantage and talk to your dog in a way they understand. I think of myself as a Mother Dog and I teach a natural and kind way of living with your dog. I understand canine behavior, etiquette and rituals and I can teach you as well. My methods and techniques are the result of over 45 years of professional experience as an Animal Behaviorist and national champion dog trainer. I was also a veterinary technician for 11 years and I graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.S. in Animal Behavior – but I’ve been doing this naturally since I was 7 yrs old!

The minute you change, your dog will change.

I look forward to sharing my unique method of creating a calm and happy dog and giving you both a more peaceful existence together.

Behavior 101

Our approach at AAMD is unique. We don’t just talk about creating a dream dog – we do it! We live it!

In Behavior 101, our students immediately start seeing changes within 15 minutes of their first class – it’s almost unbelievable. But it’s true. You’ll learn leadership skills in “controlled” real life situations with other dogs and distractions. Fearful, reactive and aggressive dogs require confident, gentle and consistent leaders who will calm them down. They need someone they can trust. We will teach you how to help your dog make the right choices and how to communicate with your dog in a way that the dog understands so that when they have a question, you will have the answer…and both of you will be able to stay calm.

Behavior 102

You never knew you could be here, but here you are! Your dog is learning social skills, doing meets and greets calmly, making friends, and enjoying every minute of it! In Behavior 102 we will address questions that you may not have known you had, resulting in a way of living that is more peaceful and rewarding for both ends of the leash. You’ll continue to refine your canine language skills, and in a safe and supportive setting, you and your dog will be given more and more opportunities to practice your skills. How you communicate with your dog determines whether or not it will translate into the behavior you’re asking for.

This class is a 4 week session that you may repeat as many times as you like until you and your dog are comfortable and confident to either go into a regular class or out into the real world. There are always new dogs filtering into this class so it’s a great opportunity to practice in a safe, controlled environment under the guidance of your instructor.

Behavior 103 – College Prep

An advanced session of four classes; College Prep is tailored to the students’ interests and needs as a group and individuals on that day, at that time. With special consideration for our reactive dog graduates, this class will not include meets and greets. Meets and greets are covered in Behavior 102. But there’s always more to learn: come happily with real life distractions like toys and bouncing balls, long stays, and working toward off leash with an understanding of how to handle new traps, temptations and new environments.
